Jon Van Caneghem Named Executive Producer at NCsoft
Creator of Popular Might and Magic and Heroes Series to Join Forces with Online Gaming Company, Adding Further Prominence to Already Talented Team of NCsoft Game Designers
 
Austin, TEXAS, June 8, 2004—NCsoft™ Corporation, the world’s leading developer and publisher of online computer games, announces the appointment of Jon Van Caneghem as Executive Producer at NCsoft North America. Van Caneghem is best known as the founder of New World Computing and the creator of some of gaming’s most prominent franchises, including the Might and Magic® role playing game series and the Heroes® strategy game series.
 
Van Caneghem started New World Computing in 1983 and grew it to become one of the largest development houses in the computer games industry. The company was later acquired by 3DO. Van Caneghem created the Might and Magic and Heroes series and turned them into two of the industry’s most successful titles, with more than 20 million units in combined sales. Each title holds hall of fame status and has been ported to virtually every gaming platform available. They have also been translated into more than fifteen languages. At NCsoft he’ll begin work on a new, unannounced online game project.

c’est passé un peu inapercu sur les sites de news, pourtant van caneghem a cree new world computing, la serie des might and magic et des heroes of might and magic. Une autre rumeur raconte que 3do aurait voulu au debut faire might and magic online avec le moteur de meridian 59. De là a dire que jon van caneghem va faire un mmorpg avec des combats a la heroes of might and magicn il y a qu’un pas que je franchis allegremment

bien entendu, il developpe un truc super secret chez ncsoft et est super content de bosser a cote de garriott (on le comprend)

Tant qu’ils récupèrent pas la ligne graphique Kitchissime de might and magic, tout va bien… ( danse a l’idée d’un jeu beau et fun comme “city of heroes” à la sauce heroic fantasy, avec du vrai contenu riche et l’univers de might )

Bah, côté kitchissime, Tabula Rasa se pose déjà là, hein (enfin moi j’aime pas trop)…

Je suis curieux de voir ce que cette collaboration va donner, je vénère Van Caneghem pour MM 3-4-5, mais pas trop pour les suivants…
